2019 Bowling Review

The club had unbridled success in this our 125th Anniversary year, fielding 20 teams, three more than last year. 9 teams were promoted & no team was relegated.
We hosted several successful competitions, including a men’s Yorkshire County match.

In the Brighouse Vets League the A, B and D teams all gained promotion, as a result of wins on the final matches of the season, to the Premier, 1st and 4th Divisions respectively.

In the Elland League, the A team won Div. 2 whilst the C team took Div. 6, winning promotion for the 4th consecutive year. The D team also won promotion, to Div.7.

The ladies picked up two trophies winning the Huddersfield Evening League Section 5 at the first attempt and adding the Section 4 title in the Huddersfield Afternoon League.

Amongst the men, the B team won the Binns Cup in the Huddersfield League whilst the B team won promotion to Div. 4 in the Vets League.

The Works League team came second, their highest ever Div. 1 position.

23 of our bowlers made the top 10 in their respective league averages on 33 occasions.

Two members won prestigious trophies: Graham Sigsworth won the 2018 Works League Individual Trophy (postponed from 2018) whilst George Turton won the 2019 version as well as the Huddersfield Merit, the youngest bowler to do so.
