Discover Our Club's Story
Our story began in 1894, when local mill owner James Neild Sykes helped create a bowling green on Daisy Lea Lane. From a modest wooden building to our much-loved clubhouse, generations of members have shaped Lindley Bowling Club into the welcoming community it is today. Our story began when local mill owner James Neild Sykes bought land on Daisy Lea Lane and funded the creation of our bowling green, laying the foundations for generations of friendship and sport.
2012
Women were welcomed as members and competitive players, transforming club life and helping us grow. In 2018, we celebrated another milestone with the election of our first female President.
